Fake: Vitamin C prevents colds
A Cochrane review of 29 trials covering 11,306 people found regular vitamin C had no effect on how often people caught colds in the general population. It does modestly shorten duration (about 8% in adults, 14% in kids) if taken regularly before symptoms start — but taking it after you're already sick does nothing. The prevention myth traces to Linus Pauling's 1970s claims, which weren't well supported even then.
