Sugar makes kids hyperactive
The myth traces to a single 1970s case study and a bestselling book with little evidence behind it. Since then, dozens of controlled studies and meta-analyses have found no causal link between sugar intake and hyperactive behavior. What actually drives the perception: parents rate kids as "more hyper" after being told (falsely) that the child had sugar — the effect is in the parent's expectation, not the child's blood sugar.
