FALSE: Reading in dim light ruins your eyesight
Ophthalmologists find no evidence that dim-light reading causes permanent eye damage. It can cause temporary eye strain — dryness, difficulty focusing — from the eye muscles working harder, but this resolves once you stop and rest your eyes. The discomfort got mistaken for lasting harm over generations.
